There is no doubt that Podcasts have become an effective way of online communication. There are so many options available for listeners to choose from. For the purposes of this blog, I would be looking at this Mastery Podcast by Mark Coles. I listened to the episode 169 which focused on " How to write professional emails".  Why are professional emails important? Emails are an important part of digital communication these days. As we learned in week 4, "responding to emails is a necessity in the business world, but taking the time to type out a thoughtful, polite reply to each one can eat up a good chunk of your day" (Freedman) . When we are writing replies emails, whether in academic setting or business setting, it becomes really important that we follow a professional tone to deliver our message. In this podcast, Mark discusses about the importance of professional emails. After some marketing of his new book, he talks about the importance of tone of the ema

The era of Social Media

There is no doubt that social media plays a crucial role in spreading awareness and providing support to various campaigns and protests. In fact, it would be right to say that social media helps to strengthen various protests and it is playing the leading role in shaping or creating the history for the up coming generations. In this blog, I would try to answer some of the questions about social media.  Q: How is social media changing the way people document history? Social media is changing the way people document history to a great extent.     The business that I chose for this week's discussion is famous sportswear brand: -  Nike . I don't think I need to give an introduction for the business as everyone is very well aware of it.    In your opinion, does the company do a good job communicating on their website and social media platforms? Provide examples.   I personally think that the company has done a great job in communication online on their website as well as their social media platforms. It has maintained uniformity by having their brand logo as their profile picture on all of the social media platforms. Moreover, they have provided the sign-up links on all of their platforms that make it even more accessible. Finally, they have used the images of their products to attract the customers in aesthetic manner.      On the company website, what is featured at the top, in the middle and at the bottom of the home page? Why do you think they have it organized this way? In your opinion, is it effective?    On th

Digital Natives vs Digital Immigrants

Image
Digital Natives can be defined a person born or brought up during the age of digital technology and therefore familiar with computers and the internet from an early age. On the other hand, digital immigrants are those of us who were not born into the digital world but have, at some later point in our lives, become fascinated by and adopted many or most aspects of the new technology are, and always will be compared to the digital natives. There has been a lot of research about these in the past two decades and in this post I'll try to answer some of the questions related to it. According to Prensky, what is the immigrant/native divide and how has it affected the way students learn? According to Prensky, the immigrant/native divide is the gap in the ways of learning of digital immigrants and digital natives. Since the immigrants have learned the old school way, the think that the natives should also read the textbooks and learn the traditional ways however, it is highly unlikel
